About

Bridge Pool is an 8-acre specimen carp lake set within the Baden Hall complex, offering depths ranging from 8 to 14 feet across a picturesque and technically rewarding water. With 10 well-spaced pegs set approximately 30 yards apart, the lake is designed to give every angler comfortable space and excellent water coverage. The majority of pegs sit on one bank, with the exception of peg 8a on the opposite bank — a strategic placement that prevents fish from consistently holding the far margins and improves fishing opportunity across the entire lake. A double peg in the centre of the bank accommodates anglers wishing to fish together during social sessions. Bivvies are permitted on Bridge Pool, making it well suited to extended overnight and multi-day sessions. As with all specimen waters at Baden Hall, each swim is supplied with an unhooking mat, landing net and weigh sling — personal equipment must not be used for bio-security reasons. Bait boats are permitted with respectful use, and a peg draw takes place at 10:30am on the day of arrival. The lake is strictly for anglers aged 18 and over, and no guests are permitted under any circumstances. Bridge Pool holds a thriving and fast-growing stock of carp, with numerous fish over 30lb, a strong head of mid-to-upper 20lb specimens, and a current lake record of 44lb 8oz. The lake offers impressive casting distances, ranging from 80 yards up to 135 yards in front of the double swim, giving anglers access to a wide variety of features including open water, silt channels and far-margin structure. End pegs are particularly productive during periods of fresh, warm wind, while peg 8 and peg 8a provide excellent access to both open water and dynamic far-margin opportunities. Tactically, Bridge Pool rewards adaptability and observation. In warmer months, zig rigs and surface fishing come into their own as carp cruise the upper layers, while chod rigs and ronnie rigs perform consistently well over silt and light weed. PVA bag presentations are highly effective for creating concentrated bait zones in the deeper sections. Proven bait choices include Mainline Cell, Sticky Baits and Dynamite Monster Tiger Nut, with DNA Bug and Secret 7 also producing strong results. Enhancing bait with liquids and additives can be particularly effective in colder or high-pressure conditions. In winter, focus on deeper holding areas with small high-attraction baits. From November to February, three rods are permitted and pike to 25lb-plus can be targeted using dead bait, lures and drop shotting methods. Spring sees fish become increasingly active and responsive to zig and mid-water presentations, while summer rewards close-in and surface tactics as carp patrol the shallows. Autumn calls for increased bait quantities with high-nutrition boilies and pellets as fish feed heavily ahead of the colder months.
