Mirror Pool is a stunning 4-acre lake set in a wooded valley in the heart of the Limousin countryside, thirty minutes north of the Dordogne. Often compared to the legendary Redmire Pool in character and atmosphere, this breathtakingly beautiful water offers one of the most sought-after carp fishing holiday experiences in Europe. The lake sits in complete seclusion, surrounded by mature woodland, and at night anglers can marvel at millions of stars overhead while listening to wild boar and deer roaming freely through the surrounding woods. With a maximum of just four anglers per week, Mirror Pool offers a level of space, solitude and exclusivity that is impossible to find on busy commercial venues. The lake holds approximately 130 carp with an average weight of over 35lb — a truly exceptional stock for a 4-acre water. There are currently around forty carp over 40lb, eighteen over 50lb, one over 60lb and the current lake record standing at an impressive 71lb. The lakebed is composed of hard gravel with silt pockets, is entirely weed-free, and all snags have been removed to ensure clean, safe presentation throughout. The lake is free of American catfish, so there is no requirement to use hard boilies. Night fishing is fully legal with no additional permits required, and each swim has a flat area large enough for the largest dome tent. Tactically, Mirror Pool is a true specimen water requiring patience, watercraft and experience. With such an impressive average weight across the stock, even a modest session can produce multiple fish over 30lb and 40lb. The gravel and silt lakebed rewards careful feature finding, and presentation over firmer areas of gravel tends to outperform fishing over deeper silt. The lack of weed means a wide range of rigs can be used effectively, though lead-free setups with rig tubing are mandatory. Only Korda Goo products are permitted as attractants. Bait boats are permitted provided they do not interfere with other anglers.

Weekly sessions Saturday 3pm to Saturday 12 noon. £330 per person per week, maximum 4 anglers. Lake exclusive £1,320. Non-fishing guests £50 each.
