White Springs Coarse Fishery
1 / 2About
The Canal Lake is a multi-pegged water with multiple islands and iris lilies spread through the margins, creating a classic and characterful fishing environment. It is stocked with bream, tench, carp, perch, roach, barbel and golden orfe, offering a varied and engaging session for anglers targeting mixed species. The lake is particularly well regarded for its specimen perch, which have been recorded to over 5lb and have attracted notable angling media coverage — famed angler Matt Hayes fished the water for two consecutive months and published an eight-page feature on perch fishing at White Springs in Improve Your Coarse Fishing magazine. The lake fishes well throughout the year and is especially popular with perch anglers in the winter months. Its even depth profile of 5 to 6 feet across much of the water makes it well suited to the pole, though ledger and feeder approaches also produce consistently. At the far end of the lake, overhanging trees provide cover where carp are known to hold up, and floating biscuit presentations have previously produced catches exceeding 200lb in a session from this area. All swims are accessible via gravel paths with car parking directly adjacent. A maximum of 1 rod applies on this lake. No alarms permitted. Barbless hooks only to a maximum size 10. Day ticket and 24-hour sessions are available at the standard Pleasure/Match/Canal pricing.
